Community Partners Join In Groundbreaking For Scholarships

November 19, 2019

November 19, 2019 – Today community partners Helliesen Lumber, McKinney Glass, Platt Electric and Rodda Paint joined Perry Tech students, faculty and staff to break ground on the 2020 scholarship raffle house located at 1003 Brynna Place in west Yakima.

Comprised of multiple trade disciplines, students from the Construction, Electrical Technology, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, and Plumbing Technician programs will contribute towards the completion of the 2245 square foot home.  The current estimated timeline for completion is set for summer, in advance of the raffle drawing on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020 at the Perry Tech campus.

Christine Coté, president of Perry Tech, said about the groundbreaking ceremony, “Today is a significant day for many reasons, but for those of us at Perry Tech it marks another milestone achievement on our path to supporting the trades and higher education.  To us, this is what it is all about.  Creating opportunities for aspiring students to learn and receive financial support.”

Approximated to be worth $350,000, there are 6,000 raffle tickets in total that are available.  The price per ticket is $100.00, and 100% of profits will benefit the scholarship fund.  Tickets can be purchased at the main office on the Perry Tech campus and Cascade Licensing in Union Gap, WA.

We would also like to recognize community partners who were unable to attend in person.  Thank you to the Association of General Contractors, Hampton Lumber, Keller Plumbing Supply, Poppoff Inc. and Western Materials for your support of Perry Tech.
