YAKIMA ROTARY VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Rotary Club of Yakima is a club created to encourage and foster the ideals of enterprise, acquaintance,
occupation, service and international understanding. Rotarians live by the Four-Way Test:
1. Is it the Truth?
2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendship?
4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
- The scholarship recipient must be enrolled at a post-high school vocational institution or in a 2-year terminal vocational program at a community college by June 30, 2027, and at a minimum through the 2026 fall quarter. Completion of this vocational program must result in a degree or certification in that vocation. Students working towards a 4-year bachelor’s degree do not qualify for this scholarship. The award will be made available upon proof of actual enrollment. Payment will be made directly to the training school.
2. The criteria upon which the award will be based are:
- Commitment to chosen career.
- School and community engagement.
- Evidence of passing grades/progress.
- Financial need.
- Good communication skills.
3. Students are eligible for subsequent awards but must reapply each year.
Important Scholarship Information
To be considered, you must answer all questions and meet all eligibility requirements identified above. Only completed applications will be considered for a scholarship. Please feel free to type your responses to the questions on a separate sheet of paper if you need more room. Scholarship applications will not be returned to you nor will copies be provided.
Application Procedures:
- Submit an official application to the address below.
- Obtain two recommendations, one each from
- A school person (teacher, counselor, or administrator)
- A non-school or non-family person who knows the candidate well (i.e., scoutmaster, minister, employer, etc.)
- Include a transcript and a copy of your current class schedule.
- Include a copy of your FAFSA or WASFA Student Aid Report showing your SAI.
- Finalists for the scholarship will be required to appear for an interview the final week in September.
Winners will be invited to attend the Downtown Yakima Rotary Club luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 15th to receive their award.
