Position Summary
Yakima Orthotics & Prosthetics is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy, patient-centered practice. This position is best suited for an individual with prior medical office experience who can confidently step into a fast-paced environment with minimal training.
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, physicians, referral sources, and visitors while supporting the daily administrative and operational needs of the clinic. In addition to front office responsibilities, this position assists with shipping and receiving medical devices and supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·Patient Reception & Customer Service
·Welcome patients and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and compassion.
·Check patients in and out efficiently.
·Verify and update demographic and insurance information.
·Collect copayments, deductibles, and patient balances.
·Answer multi-line telephone system and direct calls appropriately.
·Respond to patient inquiries or route questions to the appropriate staff member.
·Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
Scheduling & Patient Coordination
·Schedule new and follow-up appointments.
·Coordinate practitioner schedules to maximize efficiency.
·Confirm appointments and communicate schedule changes.
·Maintain accurate appointment calendars and patient records.
Insurance & Medical Office Administration
·Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
·Obtain referrals and prior authorizations.
·Enter patient information accurately into the electronic medical record.
·Scan, upload, and maintain patient documentation.
·Process incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and electronic correspondence.
·Prepare paperwork for upcoming patient appointments.
Shipping & Receiving
·Receive daily deliveries of orthotic and prosthetic components and office supplies.
·Verify packing slips against purchase orders and report discrepancies.
·Accurately receive inventory into the practice management system.
·Package and ship completed devices, warranty items, repairs, and documentation.
·Coordinate shipments with UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other carriers.
·Maintain an organized shipping, receiving, and storage area.
·Assist with inventory organization and supply replenishment.
Office Operations
·Open and close the office following established procedures.
·Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.
·Monitor office supplies and coordinate reordering.
·Support clinicians and coworkers with administrative tasks as needed.
·Assist with special projects and other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
·Associate degree or higher.
·Minimum of two years of recent medical receptionist or medical office experience.
·Experience with insurance verification, referrals, prior authorizations, and appointment scheduling.
·Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
·Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
·Excellent customer service and communication skills.
·Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
·Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
·Stable employment history with excellent professional references.
Preferred Qualifications
·Spanish-speaking.
·Experience in a specialty medical practice.
·Knowledge of medical terminology.
·Experience with medical shipping, receiving, or inventory management.

Physical Requirements

·Occasionally lift and carry packages weighing up to 30 pounds.
·Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
Schedule
·Monday through Friday
·8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
·Full-time, 40 hours per week
Consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential.
Compensation & Benefits
·$20-$23 per hour, DOE
