QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Approved technical training with satisfactory performance or five (5) years experience with diesel and automotive repair
Applicant must provide a satisfactory 5-year driving abstract
Background in trucks, buses and tune-up
Experience with truck brakes and general overhauls
Knowledge of electrical systems
Valid Washington State driver’s license, good driving record and ability to obtain CDLlicense within first six (6) months
Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent attendance record
Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships
Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students and patrons
Basic computer skills and knowledge
Experience with computer electronic control systems
Experience with diesel fuel systems
Ability to perform computer diagnostics of engines, transmissions and ABS brakes
QUALIFICATIONS:
DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
Experience with Allison transmission, passenger cars and pickup transmission
REPORTS TO: Lead Mechanic
General Responsibilities:
The mechanic performs normal and emergency mechanical work on school district vehicles. Applicant is responsible for repair and maintenance of school district vehicles, including trucks and bus equipment. Applicant must have knowledge and experience in servicing a wide variety of vehicles and have the ability to work from instructions and technical manuals.
