Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Controls Technician / Panel Builder to join our Integration team. This role requires previous experience in the fabrication of industrial control panels, with an understanding of UL508A rules and requirements to layout, mount devices, install labeling, wiring, reading drawings, marking up changes, and documenting work. The position requires the use of hand and power tools, like drilling, cutting, tapping holes, cutting/stripping wire, and using heat shrink tubing and labels, as well as working Windows PC’s for printing labels, markers, and engraving systems. All work is customized and not repetitive. Very seldom do we build quantities as we are always changing designs.
This is a full-time role . Hours are Mondays- Fridays 7am - 4pm with overtime as needed.
Essential Technical Skills
Reading Schematics: Proficiency in reading 2D/3D electrical schematics, layouts, and terminal diagrams.
Wiring and Termination: Installing, routing, and bundling wires and cables neatly according to electrical standards (wire size, insulation).
Mechanial/Component Assembly: Mounting components such as PLCs, drives, relays, circuit breakers, and terminal blocks.
Electrical Knowledge: Understanding AC/DC circuits, power distribution, and grounding strategies.
Testing and Troubleshooting: Using multimeters, analog simulators, and software tools to verify connections and functionality.
Safety Compliance: Knowledge of UL 508A standards and NFPA 70 (NEC)
Tools and Mechanical Skills
Hand and Power Tools: Competence in using drills, grinders, wire strippers, and crimpers.
Fabrication: Cutting and tapping ducts and panels.
Soft Skills
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate, error-free, and clean installation; ability to follow technical instructions
Problem-Solving: Identifying design or wiring errors.
Organization: Managing components for efficiency
Communication: clear communication skills and a customer-first mind-set
Additional Qualifications:
Graduate of a Controls Automation or related technical program preferred
Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls is a plus
Physically capable of bending, standing, and lifting 50 lbs
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
Must be able to pass a background check and comply with random drug testing
