About the Role:
The Instrument & Electrical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of electrical and instrumentation systems within industrial and manufacturing environments. This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical and instrumentation equipment to support continuous operational efficiency. The technician will work closely with engineering and operations teams to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. A strong focus on compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements is essential to protect personnel and equipment. Ultimately, this role contributes to the reliability and accuracy of control systems that are vital to the organization's production processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with completion of a technical training program in electrical or instrumentation technology.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation manuals.
Strong understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Ability to use diagnostic and calibration tools effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, or a related field.
Certification such as Journeyman Electrician, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), or equivalent.
Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and SCADA systems.
Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe equipment.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibilities:
Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment including sensors, transmitters, control valves, and wiring systems.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity and compliance with safety standards.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation faults using diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibrations, and repairs in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Skills:
The required skills enable the technician to accurately install, maintain, and troubleshoot complex electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring operational reliability and safety. Proficiency in reading technical diagrams and using diagnostic tools allows for efficient problem identification and resolution.
