Role: Technician 2 - Reliability Team

Job Summary:

Design, build, and operate test systems that validate the mechanical and electrical performance of robotic subsystems. The role will require direct collaboration with hardware design engineers to generate the data that drives design decisions. The role is primarily mechanical (75%) with some electrical skillsets required (25%).

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain test fixtures - mechanical and electrical assembly of test beds and test fixtures, assisting controls engineers with commissioning, bringing tests online and administering test bed maintenance throughout test life.
Assist in troubleshooting electromechanical issues - assist test engineers and hardware designers in diagnosing failures in robotic systems and test bed components including motors, actuators, cable assemblies, control circuits and more.
Read and work from engineering drawings - aptitude in mechanical (GD&T tolerances) and electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Capability of using drawings to build real world components, fixtures, wiring basic wiring, and ability to perform quality control specs on mechanical components and basic wiring troubleshooting.
Perform hands-on mechanical work – Create components, construct test beds and wire control systems and components. Modify and make components through basic machining (mill, lathe basics), fastener installation, alignment, fit-and-finish on prototype
hardware. Knowledge of fabrication methods (sheet metal, 3D printing, laser-cut etc.) or interest in learning about fabrication methods will be required to fill this role.
Electrical fabrication, installation & troubleshooting – create wire harnesses via direct soldering or connectors from raw wire or cable stock. Terminate motors, drives, PLCs or microcontrollers. Wire basic power distribution. Use a multimeter to perform electrical troubleshooting and collecting baseline data for tests.
Collect, organize, and present data — maintain test logs, flag anomalies, report findings to test owners and design team members and participate in team meetings to better solidify findings, decide on next steps and share learnings across the team.

Qualifications:

1–3 years hands-on electromechanical experience (robotics, automation, aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing R&D environments preferred, automation, panel shop etc.)
Proven ability to independently build real world components from drawings and provide feedback to designers and engineers based on those drawings.
Electrical fundamentals – basic electrical knowledge AC circuits and common usage, familiarity with low voltage DCV control circuits, terminate wires, crimp cables.
Solid mechanical fundamentals — can read a print, hold tolerance on a manual machine, select a bearing/fastener/seal appropriately, familiarity with torque tools and mechanical best practices.
Comfort with ambiguity — R&D means the procedure doesn't exist yet; you help create it.

Nice-to-Have:

Experience with robotic arms, end-effectors, or high-cycle-count electromechanical assemblies.
Familiarity with reliability/life testing concepts (Weibull, MTBF, accelerated test methodology).
CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred) beyond just reading — ability to model simple fixtures.
Basic programming or scripting is a plus (Python, LabVIEW, PLC ladder logic) but not required — willingness to learn is.

Benefits:

Employer pays 50% premiums of Health/ Dental/ Vision Insurance for employee and dependents
Access to supplemental plans such as GAP, Disability, Accident, Whole Life, Identity Protection & more
Paid leave and paid holidays
401(k) matching (up to 4%)
Educational Reimbursement
Supportive environment & company hosted events
