On Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 3pm Perry Technical Institute hosted representatives from the Washington State Gambling Commission, Moss Adams LLC, and the Honorable Judge David Elofson for the official raffle ticket drawing of the 2021 ‘Win A Home’ contest, sponsored by Harvest Auto. Ticket number 5,142 was randomly drawn by the Honorable Judge David Elofson and Tony Serrano, a local Yakima resident, was the lucky winner of the student-built home with an estimated value of $400,000.
Over the course of last year, 5,228 tickets were sold as part of the campaign to raise funds for student scholarships. Through the help of 33 sponsors, 32 local and statewide ticket sales locations, and with the efforts of faculty and staff at Perry Tech, more than $200,000 was raised. In addition to the funds raised, students from the Construction & Carpentry Technology, Electrical Technology, Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, and Plumbing Technician programs contributed towards the house build by putting their hands-on skills to work in the real world.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming days regarding the next ‘Win A Home’ scholarship campaign.
