Perry Technical Foundation Embarks on 4th ‘Win A Home’ Endeavor

Students Hard at Work Creating a Pathway to Scholarships

The Perry Technical Foundation has officially launched the 2024 ‘Win A Home’ scholarship fundraising campaign, sponsored by United Association Local 32 Plumbers, Pipefitters, and HVAC Refrigeration Technicians.  Located at 7202 Vista Ridge Ave. in Yakima, Construction & Carpentry Technology students are well on their way towards completing the initial framing phase of the 2,522 sq. ft. three-bedroom home with an estimated value of $450,000.  With Plumbing Technician, Electrical Technology, and HVAC/R students scheduled to perform their tasks, the home is moving along well.  Plus, this year the Foundation has added even more chances for ticket purchasers to win.  Additional prizes include a DeWalt power tools combo kit, diamond station bracelet, 12-month gift certificate for Spanky’s auto washes, Samsung 55” LED LCD TV, Blackstone 2-Burner Outdoor Griddle, and Automotive Services from Friendly Automotive.

This is the fourth house to be constructed where profits from ticket sales benefit student scholarships.  In 2023, the Perry Technical Foundation came in just shy of the 5,000 tickets sold needed to raffle off the house that was sponsored by Wheeler Rock Products.  Still, the grand prize winner walked away with a check for $228,031.71.

In 2022, the Perry Technical Foundation was the first organization in Washington state history to successfully raffle off a house.  Sponsored by Harvest Auto, the 2,522 square foot home was won by a local business owner.  The successful raffle generated more than $150,000 in funds for student scholarships.

The 2021 ‘Win a Home’ raffle came with its own unique set of challenges as the school worked through the pandemic alongside the rest of the community.  While the Foundation worked to navigate through the dynamic operating environment, they came in just short of the ticket sales goal.  So, the lucky grand prize winner won more than $120,000.  While our goal is always to ultimately raffle off the house each year, it was great to hear the winner say, “knowing that the raffle was going to student scholarships made it an easy purchase decision, and with our kids in college it will help us with our retirement.”

Over the past four years one thing has remained consistent, the support from our sponsors and ticket purchasers.  Companies like Legends Casino & Hotel, United Association Local 32 Plumbers, Pipefitters, and HVAC Refrigeration Technicians, Pacific Power, Stein’s Ace Hardware, Dunbar Jewelers, Morgan Stanley, Helliesen Lumber & Supply Co., Hampton Lumber, Western Materials, Poppoff Concrete, Campbell & Company, Fosseen’s Home & Hearth, Creative Cabinet Design, A’s Granite & Tile, Trus-Way, Crow’s Landscape Curbing, Bemis Appliance, Traditional Designs, Inc., Central Pre-Mix, Huber Brothers, RJ Weatherization & Insulation, Diego’s Drywall, KB Excavation, Roy’s Lock & Door, D&R Flooring, McMahan’s Arbor Acres, and the creative minds at MB Design make the ‘Win A Home’ campaign possible.

This campaign over the course of the past three years has raised more than $495,000 for student scholarships.  We look forward to another great raffle this year.  For a complete list of rules or if you would like to purchase raffle tickets or donate to the general scholarship fund, please contact the Foundation at 509.453.0374.
