Support for Student Veterans Sets School Apart

Yakima, WA – Date 9/28/2021 – Perry Technical Institute has been named the 2021 Excellence in Student Services award recipient by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) during the ACCSC’s Professional Development Conference (PDC).  The Excellence in Student Services award recognizes ACCSC-accredited institutions for their comprehensive nature of the student services program, the significant and positive contributions of the student services program to students' educational experience, and how the student services program supports the school's mission and enhances student achievement outcomes.

Based on efforts to create a diverse and inclusive campus, Perry Tech’s demonstrated approach to supporting student veterans ultimately set the school apart from the other nominees.  From the staging of nearly 2,000 U.S. Flags on the campus lawn each Memorial Day to hosting a Veteran Alliance networking group for student veterans and providing trained staff to assist with financial support options, the school’s claims were substantiated by written letters of support from both current and past students alike as to the excellent service provided to veterans at the school.

“I think this award really speaks volumes about the dedicated Board of Trustees, faculty and staff we have here at Perry who are committed to supporting not only our students, but especially our student veterans,” stated Christine Coté, President of Perry Technical Institute.  Coté continued, “To be recognized by the ACCSC says that we are doing the right things here at the school, and I simply could not be prouder as we continue to strive to deliver on our mission of educating, empowering, and equipping students for lifelong careers in industry.”
