Perry Tech Commences New Era in Instruction

A new building opened on the campus of Perry Technical Institute last week, one that signifies not only the growth of the 700-student technical school, but a new era in how it instructs students in some of its most visible programs.

Plath Hall, whose main entrance reflects the signature curvature of Perry Tech’s main building, comes courtesy of longtime benefactors Dorothy Plath and her late husband, Fred. It was Fred Plath who promised a financial commitment if the school could come up with the rest of the money. The school did, through a capital campaign and state funds, and now a new $8 million, 38,000-square-foot structure gleams on the northeast corner of the Washington Avenue campus.
