Perry Pantry Recognized for Fighting Student Hunger

April 30, 2019

Yakima, WA – April 29th, 2019 – Hunger can have a substantial impact on learning and college retention. For that reason, Perry Tech has multiple food pantries located on campus to help students with this basic need. Housed in two locations and accessible during campus hours, the food banks are available to any student who needs nutritional assistance for themselves or their family. The main pantry is located in the Student Services Department and filled with shelf-stable items such as soup, granola bars, applesauce, and even toiletries. Another pantry is located in our 16th Avenue building that houses the Medical programs.

Donations for the pantries come from Perry Tech employees, students, and community members. Some Perry Tech employees have a contribution automatically deducted from their paycheck, and others participate in a monthly "Perry Pantry Jeans Day", where they're given an opportunity to wear jeans in exchange for their donation(s).
