Scholarship Details

ROCK THE TRADES

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. has established the Rock the Trades Scholarship Program to assist learners pursuing an associate or vocational-technical degree or certification in an Energy, Manufacturing, or Construction trade including, but not limited to:

  • Boilermaker
  • Carpenter
  • Electrician
  • Heavy Equipment/Machine Operator
  • HVAC/R Technician
  • Mechanic
  • Machinist
  • NDT Technician/Industrial Inspector
  • Plumber
  • Sheet Metal Worker
  • Truck Driver (CDL)
  • Welder

 

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Rock the Trades Scholarship Program must:

  • Be full-time U.S. citizens or permanent residents
  • Be high school graduates or GED recipients, or current college undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the spring 2022 semester or term
  • Be pursuing an associate or vocational-technical degree or certification* in one of the following skilled trade categories:
    • Energy
    • Manufacturing
    • Construction

Students pursuing a bachelor degree or beyond are not eligible.

Employees of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. and their spouses and children are not eligible.

*Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, and unusual personal or family circumstances.

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to three (3) awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program if they still meet eligibility requirements in future years. Recipients can receive the award a maximum of two times.

Awards are for undergraduate study at a 2-year college or vocational-technical school only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. Payment is made in August.
