Positive Attitude Earns Student Kudos

The long commute from Klickitat to Yakima hasn’t affected Matt Brewer’s punctuality.

Brewer, a student in Perry Technical Institute’s Automotive Technology Program, was recently honored as December Student of the Month. “He has a good attitude, he is always on time, and he is passionate about our industry,” said Dusty Morrill, head of Perry’s Automotive Technology Program, in presenting the award.

After graduating from Klickitat High School, Brewer served in the Marines for four years. “They stuck me under a Humvee and told me to fix it. That’s when I decided I wanted to go into this field,” he said. “I like the challenge of fixing vehicles.”

When Brewer graduates in March, he’d like to find a job in an independent shop, possibly in the Vancouver area, where he can build experience.
