A strong work ethic, leadership skills, and an excellent attendance record combine in Perry Technical Institute’s January Student of the Month, Nick Edmonds.
Edmonds, a student in Perry’s Precision Machining & Manufacturing Program, was singled out by his instructors for the award. “Nick is a leader in his class and his classmates look up to him. Although Nick may not want to admit it or be in the spotlight, it is certainly true,” said Dan Steinmetz, head of the Machine program.
Raised in Richland, Edmonds served in the Army for seven years before enrolling at Perry. He was attracted to the field because he enjoys the challenge of taking raw materials and making something out of them. “Machinists have the ability to make the parts they need or modify something to make it function better,” said Edmonds.
Edmonds, who lives in Selah, will graduate in June and he hopes to go to work in the aerospace industry.
