INFORMATION TECHNOLGY SPECIALIST 3
Purpose Statement
The Information Technology Specialist (ITS) are the first line response for the IT Department. The ITS 3 is responsible for assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and software of the district. Additionally, the ITS 3 is responsible for assisting in maintaining the district’s telephone, websites and networking systems.

The position has the potential for access to confidential information at varying levels, requiring the highest degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, and professionalism.

Essential Functions
First responder to the following help requests:
PC, Chromebook and Apple questions
Printers troubleshooting
Networking issues
User account issues
Email questions
Basic phone requests (Adds, Moves, Changes)
Site bell and paging systems
Maintain logs and documentation of processes, procedures, and settings relating to job duties.
Compose and maintain detailed documentation for other staff to use for standard procedures.
Research, recommend, and provide purchasing information for any required resources.
Maintain network maps and documentation.
Testing of network lines and the ability to troubleshoot any problems with currently installed network infrastructure.
Research and discern root cause of problems and resolve conclusively in a timely manner.
Help identify and isolate minor and major problems and escalate them when needed.
Assist the other staff with projects when needed.
Help maintain the district website and troubleshooting issues for other staff.

Requirements; Minimum Qualifications

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with an ongoing need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Installation, configuration, and administration of Operating System (ChromeOS, iOS, and Windows) and the ChromeOS; thorough knowledge and application of network protocols; network hardware, software, and connectivity troubleshooting; workstation configuration and support; thorough knowledge of and application of printer installation, configuration, troubleshooting and support processes.

Communication skills required include excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain a professional, customer service focused attitude throughout interpersonal communications and interactions.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform math, read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: methods, techniques, materials, and safety practices and procedures used in the technology support field.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events, gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required; ability to independently work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data and utilize job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.

Education
High School diploma or equivalent

Required Testing
No district testing required.

Continuing Education / Training
It is expected that the ITS 3 will keep current his/her own job skills commensurate with changes in the profession. Some district training may be provided.
