Each summer, highly motivated technical school students are selected to participate in our 10-to-12 week operations summer internship program. Our internship provides a unique opportunity to make an immediate impact by learning from senior leaders, collaborating with colleagues, and developing skills through individual projects that use your unique strengths. We also provide robust training and development throughout the internship—all crafted to help accelerate your knowledge base while assisting you in acquiring new skills. Operations Interns will refine technical skills and gain hands-on experience while learning and assisting with the operations of our natural gas systems.

Day in the Life of an Operations Intern:

This is an outstanding development opportunity that will provide the successful candidate with a number of unique opportunities while in the role! Responsibilities may vary based upon location, business needs, and the intern's education and skills. Projects may include:

Trains in electrical, instrumentation and controls; provides I/E support
Participates in flow path training
Performs transmitter calibrations
Completes line locations, pigging, valve maintenance, daily rounds and readings within the gathering system
Builds mechanical knowledge while conducting tasks associated with mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance, compliance activities, and general cleaning of facilities/assets
Responsibilities/Expectations:
Assists with a variety of tasks to safely maintain facility equipment and support operations, while collaborating with others to find solutions to technical or operational problems
Acquires knowledge of and follows requirements for safe and efficient operation of facilities, execution of tasks, protection of community, personnel, environment, and assets
Completes assigned reports, logs and maintains accurate records of process operations and performance of preventative maintenance on equipment
Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
Required: High School Diploma/GED
Current enrollment in and completion of one semester of an associate degree or certification in Energy Systems Technology, Renewable Energy, Mechanical/Electrical, Industrial Mechanics, Facilities Energy Management, or similar at Walla Walla Community College
Current enrollment in and completion of one semester of an associate degree or certification in Automotive Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Nuclear Technology, or similar at Columbia Basin College
Current enrollment in and completion of one semester of an associate degree or certification in Agricultural & Diesel Equipment Technology, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Automation, & Robotics Technology, Precision Machining & Manufacturing, or similar at Perry Technical Institute
Physical and Environment Work Requirements:
Must be willing to:

Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as the need arises
Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
Use hand tools
Other Requirements:
Must possess valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
This position is not eligible for sponsorship
Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
Possesses strong problem solving, analytical, creative thinking, and verbal/written communication skills
Prior leadership experience within a work, project and/or campus environment
Compensation:

Compensation is a nonnegotiable rate of $23.61/hour.

A housing stipend will be provided; additional relocation will also be given for those moving more than 50 miles from their home and school address
