The Opportunity
WSDOT is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to fill our full-time Fiscal Technician 2 position in our South-Central Region. This position provides clerical support services for region-wide crew and assists other office operations by maintaining day-to-day functions involving payroll accounts payable and employee customer service. Organize and verify area purchases and invoices for payment vouchering and PCMS payment processes, including verifying accurate coding and signatures, and contacting vendors to resolve errors and invoicing issues. Review employee time/leave reporting in the DOTtime payroll system, assisting employees with resolving errors and issues in DOTtime. Printing and reviewing payroll reports for accuracy and resolving any errors to meet payroll deadlines. Maintains an extensive filing system, review and enter inventory records, order office supplies, and assist the supervisor with additional workflow when needed.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:
Review, audit, and verify area invoices for accuracy and compliance with department policies and procedures.
Review and inventory records.
Verify coding, items purchased, sales tax, and receiving signatures.
Prepare invoices for processing via TRAINS Payment Vouchering System and Purchasing Card Management System (PCMS), credit card payment processing.
Review employee's timecard entries, and assist employees and supervisors with clearing exception errors, coding errors, and leave requests.
Work with supervisors and line-item approvers.
Run payroll reports and review for accuracy, resolve errors before cutoff deadlines.
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
High school graduation or GED equivalency.
One (1) year of general clerical/fiscal experience.
Valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, skills, and ability to perform clerical, secretarial, fiscal, and accounting functions.
Knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with supervisors, other employees, the public, and other agencies.
Knowledge and ability to operate equipment such as computers, copy machines, telephones, and general office equipment.
Attention to detail and ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Knowledge, skills, and ability to perform investigative research and prepare detailed reports.
Knowledge, skills, and ability to make informed decisions and resolve complex problems.
Knowledge of WSDOT’s Payment Vouchering/PCMS Payment processing system and procedures
Knowledge of WSDOT’s Payroll Management System with the ability to make accurate and timely corrections, according to department rules and policies.
Knowledge of WSDOT’s HATS program/procedures for tracking, processing, and completing Reimbursable Work Orders.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday between 6:00AM-4:30PM.
This position offers flexible/hybrid remote work options.
In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
