Part I: Position Summary:
The Information Technology Specialist 4 (ITS4) is responsible for the district’s cyber security infrastructure. The ITS4 supports and trains district staff and mentors' other technology department staff. Additionally, the ITS4 is a lead technician for system support.

The position has access to confidential information at the highest level, requiring the highest degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, and professionalism. The ITS4 is on call 24 X 7 in support of the district’s mission-critical data and communication services.

Part II: Supervision and Controls over the Work:

Serves under the direction of the Information Technology (IT) Director. Work is guided by operating procedures and practices, database management procedures, system security procedures, Board policy, and district administrator direction.

Part III: Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs some or all of the following duties with a relative degree of independence:
Collect data on current security measures for risk analysis, and write systems status reports regularly.
Monitor systems for attacks and run appropriate defensive protocols if a breach occurs.
Conduct testing to identify vulnerabilities, and collaborate with IT team to update defensive protocols when necessary.
Monitor access-related activities and check for unregistered information changes.
Help lead employee training to prevent phishing and other forms of cyberattacks.
Provides help desk support as required.
Prepares and maintains regulatory reporting to local, state and federal agencies.
Monitor, operate, install, configure, maintain, secure, and document server and network hardware, software, applications, related equipment, and connectivity according to professional standards.
Research and discern root cause of problems and resolve conclusively in a timely manner. This will require work during non-standard business days and hours upon short notice and may require 24 X 7 response to emergency situations for the purpose of ensuring continuity of service.
Maintain user accounts and assist users in the maintenance of their accounts and data. The ITS4 has access to district data and communications at all levels and is expected to act according to the highest professional standards regarding protecting the confidentiality of this data and the privacy of individuals. Accessing confidential data must follow guidelines established by the IT Director.
Assist in repair and installation in other areas of technology maintenance within the district and coordinate with site administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects and support requests efficiently. Directs assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring functions are performed efficiently and in conformance with required safety and regulatory standards. Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of support requests for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
Support district workstation installation, maintenance, and deployment.
Compose and maintain detailed documentation for other staff to use for standard procedures.
Commitment to personal ongoing training and development.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Part IV: Minimum Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience in a cybersecurity role or four or more years in a system administrator role at a midsize or large company supporting 200 or more users.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, to include skill in developing and presenting training materials and information.
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively, exercise judgment and creativity, organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Deep knowledge of IT, including hardware, software, and networks.
Strong abilities in critical thinking, problem-solving, logic, and forensics.

Part V: Desired Qualifications:
Experience in a public school setting.
Industry certification in cybersecurity (SSCP, CISM, Security+, etc.)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information systems, information technology, or related field.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Part VII: Continuing Education/Training
It is expected that the ITS4 will keep current his/her own job skills commensurate with changes in the profession. Some district training may be provided.
