About the Role 

The Information Systems Project Leader is responsible for managing, planning, organizing, designing, developing, and maintaining web-based applications and databases associated with the Office of Research and related departments. This position is expected to coordinate with all levels of the Office of Research and communicate current issues and resolutions of technical activities. 

 

How your time will likely be spent: 

 

10%- Data Management and Analysis 

Analyze university research data along with other University data for specific projects within the Office of Research. Manage automation for the collection of data to provide continuously up-to-date reports for Office of Research leadership. 

 

40%- Application Development and Maintenance 

Perform and oversee the analysis, planning, design, development, maintenance, and testing of new and existing web applications for the Office of Research, Office of Research Support Units, and certain Presidential Committees.  
Develop and manage the databases that house data used by various Office of Research web applications. Provide direct oversight of information via various Office of Research applications to faculty and administrators supporting program goals.  
Manage updates of site code for standardization and further development of information sources in support of Research Area strategic plans. 

 

30%- Application Infrastructure Management 

Manage the planning, design, development, maintenance and testing of a large, multi-department web-based of new and existing applications within the Research Area using ASP.NET, C#, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL Server.  
Manage and develop the Research data and web infrastructure to support campus-wide and governmental reporting requirements. 
Collaborate with staff and faculty to develop and implement interfaces in managed applications that meet specified needs.  
Design and create technology solutions to improve delivery of services and to provide for cost-effective work methodology for Research Area staff, meeting current web security development standards to protect managed data and compliance with regulatory and best practice design standards. 

 

15%-Information Technology Leadership 

Provide technology vision and lead departmental technology initiatives. Strategize with leadership to support business needs, drive improvements, and set priorities. 
Plan and lead major departmental IT projects that have significant university-wide and state-wide impact.  
Manage and coordinate Office of Research information technology support needs and data requirements to ensure all federal, state and university grant and contract online and data processes are aligned and work appropriately.  

 

5%- Other Duties 

 

Required Qualifications  

Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-to-year basis.
Knowledge and experience developing with the Microsoft Integrated Development Environment (IDE). For example: ASP.NET Web Forms/MVC, C# and TypeScript. 
Knowledge and experience administering and programming against Microsoft SQL Server databases. 
Knowledge and experience with the Angular framework for web application development. 
Knowledge and experience with Git source code management. Understanding of RESTful API development and integration. 
Strong understanding of best practice web security and implementation standards. Effectively communicate orally and in writing. 
Experience communicating with technical and non-technical individuals. 

 

Preferred Qualifications  

Experience in a higher education or research institutions. 
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 




Monthly Salary: $5,485.73 - $8,402.20 monthly ($65,828.76 - $100,826.40 annually)  




Anticipated Hiring Range: $92,000-$100,000 




In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
