STETNER: Safety Manager - Central, WA

Job Description:
Join the Stetner MEP/T (mechanical, electrical, plumbing & piping, low voltage technologies) construction team, serving general contractors and customers across Washington State. We are seeking experienced construction Safety Managers (and Safety Technicians) to oversee construction safety and health. You will report directly to the Chief Safety Officer and may oversee Site Safety Technicians. Depending on your experience, you may be overseeing safety and health on projects from $2 million to $50+ million in contract value for jobs in Central WA or Eastern WA.

Flexibility is preferred for possible work on Saturdays, 50 hour weeks, and 60/60/50 work schedules which include overtime pay.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Project Manager with the administration of the Project Safety and Health Program/Accident Prevention Plan at the job site.
Assist the Project Manager to track all Supervisor Audits, Craft Observations and analyze safety trending.
Facilitate all Steering Committee meetings, Safety Leader Team meetings, assist project management to identify and eliminate workplace safety hazards using trend tracking reports.
Continually monitor the jobsite for unsafe conditions, assist in analyzing reported hazards, and leading the action to eliminate them.
Be the job-site resource for all safety and health information.
Facilitate all safety and health required awareness, site-specific, occupational, and qualification training staff, craft, and management personnel.
Select, provide, and ensure proper inspection/use/disposal of personal protective, safety, health, and monitoring equipment.
Promote, participate, and ensure documentation of all weekly safety meetings.
Maintain document control of all safety related programs, policies, manuals, records, pre-task plans, incident files, training matrices, training records, personal safety files, send requested documents to corporate safety and/or upload documents to the Safety Share Drive.
Assist in analyzing data, conducting interviews, facilitating incident reviews, root cause analysis, recommending corrective actions, and accurate written reporting to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
Coordinate with the Safety Director on matters pertaining to local mandatory or statutory requirements affecting assigned projects.
Manage all safety incident tracking and reporting and manage incident escalations and prepare written plans for safety incident resolution. At the same time keeping the Executive Director Safety & Health informed of status and related issues by email (a written paper trail is required).
Facilitate the preparation of project safety budgets for safety activities including staffing, travel, safety equipment, and training. Inventory and order PPE or special safety equipment for assigned projects.
Monitors and analyzes on site operational activities and offers verbal and written assessment feedback regarding procedures, compliance, corrective actions, and training needs.
Manages project health and safety incident tracking, notification to the Safety Director and investigation follow-up with reporting. The Safety Manager works with the Safety Director and CEO to continually improve the notification and reporting process.
Manages the written history report with files saved and organized electronically for authorized access to the written reports. Includes a monthly management summary of project safety activities, which is a compilation of weekly management reported metrics with overall assessments and recommendations. Prepare and submit weekly management safety reports.
Manages, prepares, and facilitates onboarding and training of site personnel on Stetner safety policies and procedures and assures their compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Safety Manager is expected to continuously improve their process by working with the Safety Director, Project Managers, and Group/Project Executives to improve data timeliness and accuracy.
Safety Manager is expected to maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace with well-organized historical files which meet necessary security requirements.
Other tasks and duties which may be assigned from time to time by the Safety Director.
​Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma, may be waived based on prior experience and certifications.
CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-hour certifications required or completed immediately after hire.
License: Valid WA state driver's license with a clean, safe driving record. Available for local travel on a regular basis, periodic overnight travel may be required
Required: Minimum of one year of experience working in a Safety role in a contractor or subcontractor business with annual revenue > $5 million
Preferred: Construction Health & Safety Certification (CHST) and Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST).
Preferred: Three years of experience in a Safety role in a MEP contractor business with annual revenues > $20 million.
Additional experience and a superior track record may substitute for Education and/or certification requirements.
NOTE 1: Less experienced safety management candidates are invited to apply but may be considered for a Safety Site Technician role.
