Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. It is approximately 140 miles from Seattle, 170 miles from Portland, and 200 miles from Spokane. The Yakima Valley is a wonderful place to live, work and play.
General Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations, the Simulation Technologist brings key technical aptitude to the simulation center, providing guidance for all simulation staff and constituents for simulation activities. This includes, but is not limited to, acting as the primary technical point person for activity design, training, and organization of the simulation center.
Essential Job Functions:
Effective simulation activity preparation with equipment preparation and set up, including programming and maintenance
Maintaining LMS systems according to unit procedures, including oversite of infrastructure and activity setup according to defined schedule
Responsible for development and maintenance of simulation activity materials focused on technical aspects of activities, including templates for constituents and internal documents
Responsible for creating realism in simulation scenarios according to the learning objectives of the activity (e.g. moulage, environmental cues, utilization of technology enhancements, etc.)
Providing effective training and support related to simulation activities
Provides training to support simulation center data reporting, including LMS reporting and tracking features
Develop, maintain, and provide user trainings on LMS system functions directly related to simulation activities
Develop, maintain, and provide tech trainings directly related to daily job duties of the simulation center staff
Maintain effective infrastructure for electronic data storage within all simulation center systems
Develop, maintain, and effectively implement appropriate inventory controls for activity supplies, notifying Administrative Coordinator of purchasing needs
Maintain organization of all simulation spaces to promote appealing visual presence at all times
Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education:
• Required: Two-year degree in related field or Technical Certification or equivalent experience
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree and/or Certified Health care Simulation Operations Specialist Certification (CHSOS)
Experience:
• Preferred: Two years working directly with medical simulation technologies
• Flexibility and adaptability to work varying hours/days/evenings/weekends
