Reporting to the Vice Provost of Digital Learning, the Destiny One Technical Product Manager coordinates the planning, design, and development of software applications. This is a new role that will lead the technology stack for a new campus initiative in continuing education, Continuing, Adulty, and Professional Education (CAPE).  You will use your creativity to modify the system and meet the needs of the CAPE team and campus partners.  You will work closely with cross-functional business leaders, peers and technology leadership to ensure systems are positioned for the growth of the university. This includes performing or supervising analysis, design, development, and testing, to ensure the deployment of reliable, secure, and scalable business-critical applications and platforms.  You will work in a collaborative environment with business and technology owners and foster a culture of teamwork and support across the university and within the technology team.  

 

The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is $85,000 - $90,000. 

 

What you will be doing:  

Provide Vison and Leadership for a Product or Product Portfolio by: 35%  

Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Destiny One, Canvas, and other related continuing education software. 
Understanding available software platforms while prioritizing product features and capabilities; defining a vision for a product and creating product roadmaps; aligning stakeholders around the vision; understanding and representing user need; while ensuring effective cross-functionality and collaboration between teams.   

 

Provide Product Ownership and Project Management by: 25%  

Ensuring development projects and software deployments meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and comply with all applicable security, privacy, audit requirements and regulations, and are delivered with the highest quality  
Managing the product lifecycle, creating upgrade and testing schedules and coordinating regression, QA and UAT testing  
Managing a product backlog, gathering requirements and user stories, prioritizing tasks, monitoring progress, and providing feedback  
Developing technical design documents, architectural diagrams and process flows by collaborating with peers and team members  
Performing continuous review of technologies, industry standards and industry-related developments and making recommendations relative to the need for further research and associated changes  

 

Manage Key Partner Relationships by: 10%  

Representing Digital Learning & Continuing, Adult, and Professional Education in meetings related to the supported product family  
Maintaining relationships with technology vendors for the department and/or business owners  
Maintaining relationships with leadership, business owners and end users to better understand their needs and address organizational goals 

 

Administer the non-traditional student management system, program catalogue, and eCommerce applications and provide high level reporting by: 30%  

Developing and maintaining knowledge and understanding of Modern Campus, Destiny One Modules; Axiom Elite, Instructure/Longsight, Canvas/Sakai; Slate; the ERP; and other related applications  
Develop, manage, and support workflows and data for essential application functions such as populating the catalogue, student registration, course deployment, and payment.     
Collaborating with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to maintain Oracle Database Tables (the Data Warehouse & PCI DSS Database), utilizing SQL DML scripts, PL/SQL Packages, Procedures, Functions & Cron Jobs that populate or update data  
Collaborating with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to resolve issues or perform maintenance within Destiny One, Axiom Elite, the ERP, and other systems that support the online and continuing, adult, and professional education functions utilizing SQL DML scripts, PL/SQL Packages, Procedures, Functions, Cron Jobs, iPaaS and other tools as needed  
Using multiple data sources and reporting tools to provide data and reports for use in management decision processes, performing analysis of payroll and financial transactions and general ledger account balances to ensure accurate financial and management reporting  
Developing automated and versatile reporting tools utilizing Argos, SQL, PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, Azure DevOps, Team Dynamix, Oracle Developer, HTML and other tools as needed  

 

Required Qualifications: 

Three years working with software applications in a technical or functional support role   
Prioritizing work and ensuring projects and workloads are completed on time  
High School Diploma or equivalent 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

Five or more years of experience working with software applications in a technical or functional leadership role   
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education Administration, Management of Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.   
Agile Certification (e.g., Product Owner, Scrum Master or similar)  
ITIL Certification  
Professional experience in an educational organization  

 

Experience with:     

Student, program, and course management systems and workflows  
Using enterprise reporting tools such as Argos, Cognos or Power BI  
Higher education technology   
Modern API development with web services  
Understanding the relationships between ERP, CRM, CMS, third-party solutions, relational databases  
Source Code Control / Versioning tools (e.g., Git).   
Unit-test frameworks, testing automation and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Selenium, JUnit, GitLab CI/CD)  
Experience with Canvas/Destiny One
