Directly Responsible To: Director of Payroll and Employee Safety

Minimum Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Experience processing payroll for union employees and for an employer with more than 50 employees preferred.
· Knowledge of school district WESPaC payroll procedures and Department of Retirement Systems and school district general accounting preferred.
· Ability to interpret and apply state requirements regarding retirement reporting; perform accurate arithmetic calculations and reconciliation.
· Experience in computer software including spreadsheets with multiple formula calculations and word processing applications required.
· Experience in researching and reconciling data from various financial sources to complete reports.
· Ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch.
· Ability to work effectively under pressure; work independently with minimal supervision.
· Maintain confidentiality.
· Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, district staff members and the general public.
· Established record of dependability, flexibility, and regular attendance.

Primary Function: This position is responsible for the monthly pay and benefits for certificated substitute personnel; processes, verifies, and calculates certificated timesheets. Monitors number of hours worked by certificated substitute personnel for determination of change in benefit eligibility and allocates earned time off for eligible certificated substitutes. Process and audit SEBB billing for the District and is the main point of contact for certificated employees for SEBB assistance. Maintain and update archive retention schedule for the District and the payroll department; maintain and organize records and storage. Track returned W-2’s. Assists and/or directs visitors in the Financial/Payroll Department building to appropriate employee or department.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:
· Perform internal audits.
· Create and maintain a variety of records, forms, documents, and files.
· Compile, create, and process district, state and federal reports as required.
· Respond to inquiries from staff, parents, students, and public agencies.
· Assist other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and an effective work environment.

Expectations for Continued Employment:
· Employment is contingent upon passing a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau Investigation fingerprint screening examination and background check.
· Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours.
· Comply with all District policies and operational procedures.
· Must maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
· Complete SafeSchool’s online training in accordance with the Yakima School District.
· Obtain a CPR and First Aid Card if needed.
· Attend job specific trainings as required.
