About the Position:
This position repairs and replaces a variety of plumbing fixtures, sprinkling systems, steam and hot water heating lines, and chemical and sewer lines.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of building codes as they relate to plumbing.
Knowledge of backflow prevention devices.
Knowledge of water piping, venting, sewer, and drain systems.
Knowledge of steam piping.
Skill in cutting, fitting, fabricating, and assembling a wide variety of plumbing materials.
Ability to read and understand manufacturer's maintenance guides, schematics, and blueprints.
Ability to efficiently solder copper pipe using non-lead solder.
Ability to work independently
Ability to quickly and effectively repair sewer backups, broken water pipes, kitchen plumbing, etc.
Ability to recognize safety hazards and work safely.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, District staff, parents, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in-writing.
Ability to work independently and establish daily priorities with a minimum amount of supervision.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to respond to emergencies and re-prioritize workload as needed.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to operate a personal computer using Windows-based software.
Licenses/Special Requirements :
Must possess and maintain the following:
· Valid Washington State Driver’s License
· CPR and First Aid Certifications
· Journeyman’s License
· Certified Backflow License / Washington Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) (Or ability to obtain within 6 months)
· Asbestos Worker Certification (Or ability to obtain within 6 months)
· Confined Space Training (Or ability to obtain within 6 months)
· Aerial working platform training (Boom/Scissor) (Or ability to obtain within 6 months)
· Fork Lift (Or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in school buildings/facilities.
Experience working with grease traps backflow, clogged drains, and plumbing retrofits.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, lift 80 pounds with assistance, work on boom trucks, reach above shoulder height, climb ladders and work on scaffolds up to 50 feet high, use hand tools, and work in confined spaces and at heights on lifts and catwalks. Willing to work in all types of weather conditions. Ability to operate District vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions.
Salary:
2022-23 Salary Schedule: $46.41-46.91 per hour
Work shift: 8 hours per day, 260 days per year
