Nature of Position
Perform various activities related to the servicing of revenue and non-revenue vehicles.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities/KSA
Dispense gas and diesel fuel for all Agency vehicles; record fuel and mileage usage.
Check vehicle fluid levels; adding fluids as needed; record all fluid amounts added in accordance with established procedures.
Assist in removing, replacing, and/or cleaning of vehicle components such as engines, starters, transmissions, battery, drive lines, differentials, cooling and air condition systems and brakes.
Maintain air pressure in vehicle tires; report tire damage to maintenance.
Inspect for evidence of vehicle damage or vandalism; report maintenance needs.
Perform routine maintenance consisting of vehicle lubrication, replace oil and air filter, brake reline, mount and dismount tires.
Record labor and parts used; identify parts needed for inventory.
Drive and transport vehicles to and from different locations.
Secure vehicles, equipment, and buildings at end of shift.
Assist mechanics as necessary.
Maintain cleanliness in the shop.
Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the parts, tools, and equipment used in servicing diesel and automotive equipment.
Comprehensive knowledge of gas and/or diesel engines and mechanical principles.
Ability to diagnose and repair minor mechanical and electrical defects.
Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in the mechanical trade.
Skill in operating a variety of hand and power tools used in mechanical maintenance work.
Perform proper lubrication for all types of equipment and vehicles.
Preform simple arithmetic.
Keep legible and accurate records.
Learn new technologies, policies, procedures and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
Utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs.
Understand, follow, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Work as a team member and independently; effectively apply organizational and time management skills; meet deadlines and comply with Agency policies.
Exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
Focus on tasks and recall details; handle frequent interruptions.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and one year of general routine servicing of diesel and gas-powered equipment. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Licenses, Certifications & Other Requirements
Must have a basic set of hand tools.
Must obtain and maintain the following licenses and certifications:
Commercial Driver License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and corresponding medical certification, or ability to obtain within 180-days of employment.
First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain within 180-days of employment.
Forklift Certification, or the ability to obtain within 180-days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
Vehicle maintenance and/or cleaning experience.
