Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION
The basic function of a Wireman is to assemble electrical/mechanical products or sub-assemblies through written instructions and following wiring diagrams and mechanical layout drawings.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Production Manager.
RESPONSIBILITY
•Reading electrical schematics and following manufacturer’s installation requirements for electrical and mechanical assembly of components in control panels.
•Coordination with engineers on design clarifications and reviewing progress of construction.
•Preparing wire and terminal markers using computer labeling software and Excel.
•Interior panel layout including: measuring, marking, drilling, tapping & fastening of components in accordance with design drawings and UL-508A requirements.
•Exterior panel layout including: measuring, marking, drilling, and cutting openings in enclosures in accordance with design drawings and UL-508A requirements.
•Installation of wire, wire duct, terminals and other electrical components in enclosures.
•Termination of wiring inside electrical enclosures in accordance with wiring schematics and UL-508A requirements.
•Uses power tools, bench tools, and hand tools for metal work.
•Conducts all activities in a safe, workmanlike professional manner.
•Heavy lifting and physical activity.
•Other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman, Production Manager, or Corporate Officers.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Industrial electronics certificate, AA degree, or equivalent experience.
•Ability to read electrical wiring schematics and follow manufacturer’s installation requirements.
•Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
•Experience with UL-508A standards desired.
