BASIC FUNCTION

The basic function of a Field Service Technician is testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, training, and commissioning process control instrumentation and electrical control systems for municipal and industrial plant process systems.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Production Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•Diagnose errors or technical problems with control panels and instrumentation and determine proper solutions.
•Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.
•Provide installation expertise at customer sites as well as conducting pre-installation assistance.
•Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks.
•Responsible for on-site training of customer personnel on proper operation of supplied equipment.
•Ensure site work is carried out in the required order, for completion by the required timeline.
•Read and review fabrication drawings, technical manuals, test forms and other documentation to prepare for startup or service.
•Uses power and hand tools for metal work.
•Uses bench tools and computer equipment.
•Field Technician is required to provide personal hand tools.
•Ensure all materials, tools and equipment provided to you are kept safe, and secure. Ensure all are calibrated in good working order to company best practices.
•Conducts all activities in a safe, workmanlike professional manner.
•Heavy lifting and physical activity.
•Perform minor wiring modifications to control panels if necessary.
•Out-of-town travel required up to 50%.
•Time and expense record keeping on a bi-weekly basis.
•Operation and upkeep of assigned service truck/van and other company issued equipment.
•Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures at all times. Develop and maintain safe habits and practices with regard to safety requirements on site and in panel fabrication and report any breaches or concerns on health and safety matters to the Production Manager or COO. Ensure that each jobsite has been inspected for job safety and is in compliance with all federal and state OSHA requirements.
•Produce timely and detailed service reports and maintain as-built conditions on drawings.
•Provide calibration sheets for instrumentation.
•Responsible for the projection of a positive company image and through it be able to generate leads for Technical Systems, Inc.
•Be able to work independently and as a key team member.
•Work with engineering, project management, and management groups to resolve escalated problems.
•Periodic assignment to duties within panel fabrication.
•Other duties as assigned by Production Manager, or Corporate Officers.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Industrial electronics or instrumentation certificate, AA degree, or equivalent experience
•Hands on experience with industrial control systems, motor control circuits, electrical control systems, process instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, troubleshooting and servicing low voltage electrical systems.
•Strong record-keeping skills.
•Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
•Good customer relations and communication skills.
•Strong time management skills and organization skills a plus.
•Ability to work under pressure.
•Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
