The Opportunity
WSDOT has an exceptional opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic 3 in Ephrata, WA. This position is a
member of the North Central Region Rest Area Maintenance organization, responsible for performing corrective and
preventative maintenance work, and emergent needs work on plant mechanical and plumbing equipment, building
structures and water/sewer systems for 5 Safety Rest Area sites and buildings. This position will also help support, with
guidance from NCR Facilities, NCR's maintenance sheds and support buildings and sites.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:
Read blueprints, estimate time, materials, equipment and submitting formal test results as required by local code enforcement for these projects.
Install, repair, trouble shooting and preventative maintenance on plumbing.
Perform backflow testing.
Landscape irrigation, maintenance, vegetation control and lawn mowing.
Diagnostics, maintenance, replacement, and preventive maintenance of water supply well systems, and repair of small motors/pumps.
Building maintenance, painting, and floor repair.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled maintenance mechanic trade and one (1) year of experience as a journey-level worker in building maintenance, construction, or repair work.
Experience may be substituted for the apprenticeship program on a year for year basis, but at least one (1) year of experience as a journey level worker is required.
Washington State Dept of Health backflow certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
Class Ill Asbestos worker certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
Valid driver's license.
First aid card or obtain within 6 months of hire date.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
High school graduation or possession of a GED certificate.
Journey-level plumbing documented experience with installing and maintaining commercial plumbing fixtures, water delivery components, water metering and protection devices, water conditioning systems and similar equipment.
Journey-level carpentry- documented experience in installing and maintaining door and window hardware in wood, steel and aluminum doors and windows.
Experience with municipal well systems.
Experience with Asbestos Class Ill Operations and Maintenance work.
Important Notes
Work schedule: May require being available for callouts on weekends and evenings.
This position performs skilled work in more than one trade or craft. Incumbents typically specialize in one trade or craft but perform journey level and semi-skilled work in a variety of disciplines.
In accordance with our collective bargaining agreements, employees in represented positions must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code.
In additional to the salary range listed, a general wage increase of 4% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2023.
