Job Description:
UW Medical Center – Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day shift CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT to join our Ambulatory Float Pool. Our Ambulatory Float Pool provides short term and long term staffing coverage for planned and unplanned absences. As a Float Pool Medical Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to work in a variety of specialty areas, including orthopedic medicine, infectious disease, women's health, respiratory care, and surgical services. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
Perform injections
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Submit medication prior authorizations
Recognizes symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately reports to provider
Acts as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
Assists provider with procedures and medical exams
Performs point of care testing and reports abnormal laboratory values
Assists in transporting patients as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
