BRIX Marine in Port Angeles, WA seeks experienced full-time Aluminum Welder.

As a Welder at BRIX, you’ll fulfill a critical role in building best-in-class BRIX boats. You’ll work closely with the team, building vessels and their components in conformance with design specifications, company quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with other Welders and Fabricators to meet project milestones and continuously improve.

Job Description
Use welding equipment to join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products, in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Duties
Read and interpret layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions to plan welding work.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements, with guidance from the Welding Supervisor.
Configure and operate tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
MIG or TIG weld aluminum components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
Inspect outputs to ensure they meet design specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
Notify the Welding Supervisor of defective material or equipment.
Follow company procedures to maintain welding equipment.
Wear appropriate PPE and demonstrate safe welding practices. Comply with safety standards required by the company and regulatory bodies.
Obtain and maintain proper workplace training and certifications.
Other duties as required.

Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and/or graduation from certified technical school.
3 – 5 years aluminum welding experience, boat-building preferred.
Welding certification (USCG, AWS, CWB, etc.) preferred.
Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of aluminum welding, including set-up parameters and equipment.
Ability to read and understand plans and welding symbols.
Basic mathematical skills required in manufacturing environment.
Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the US.

Additional Information
Environment
Work is performed in a metal manufacturing facility. Noise level can vary from moderate to high. The use of PPE (e.g. hand/hearing/eye protection) is required. Continuous physical effort is required (standing, walking, stooping, climbing stairs, grasping/reaching above head height, lifting/moving items up to 50 pounds individually or 75 pounds with assistance). The employee is occasionally required to work from a ladder and/or scaffolding.
