Job Description:
Legacy Automation, Inc. (LAI) is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the Pulp and Paper Industry. LAI’s Electrical Controls Group is responsible for the design and implementation of control systems for their machinery using the best technology for the application. LAI’s control systems frequently utilize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for machine sequencing, and AC Variable Frequency (ACVF) Drives, and Servo Drives, for positioning and motion control applications. The members of the Electrical Controls Group are involved in all facets of the production process; including project scope definition and sales support, system hardware design and documentation, component selection, system software design and coding, onsite field support for installations, machinery tuning, and troubleshooting services. LAI is looking for entry level Electrical Control Systems Designers to train in the design and implementation of industrial electrical control systems, and equipment support.

LAI is located in Hoquiam, WA, at the base of the Olympic peninsula on the Washington coast, where hunting, fishing, and hiking are some of the many outdoor activities available. The small town environment is conducive to raising a family with its slower paced lifestyle, lack of crowds, and lower cost of living.

Required Skills and Experience:
Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or similar software packages.
A working knowledge of AutoCAD, including basic drafting skills.
A working knowledge of basic Electrical Circuits, both AC and DC.
A working knowledge in the use of Electronic Test Equipment, including multimeters.
A willingness to travel when required. Generally short trips of 4 to 5 days, within the US and Canada.
Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and work unsupervised within defined limits of responsibility when needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with basic Pneumatic and Hydraulic Circuits.
Familiarity with basic industrial electrical components, such as pushbuttons, relays, power supplies, wiring terminals, etc.
Familiarity with PLCs, including an understanding of their basic functions and architecture, and the ability to read and understand basic ladder logic.
Familiarity with ACVF Drives, including their general use and implementation.
Familiarity with Servo Drives, including their general use and implementation.
Familiarity with Ethernet Networking and device connectivity.
