The Opportunity
WSDOT’s Information Technology Division (ITD) is currently seeking an experienced IT professional to fill the Application Developer vacancy located in Tumwater, WA. In this role, you will develop, enhance, and maintain web applications for multiple business units, primarily the agency-wide Bridge Preservation Office (BPO). This position is responsible for gathering, analysis, application design, database design, application coding, testing, deployment, problem resolution, and upgrades of applications in an iterative and interactive style of development. As the Application Developer, you will also work independently and as part of a team to develop specifications and code, test, maintain, and enhance complex web applications containing Bridge and related data from multiple databases. Our top candidate will possess strong project management and problem-solving skills, as this position resolves issues for multiple complex systems and applications.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Application Developer will:
Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications for multiple business units, spanning all agency regions, and including regional, county, and city transportation agencies.
Develop, enhance, and maintain desktop client-server applications for the same entities mentioned above.
Perform analysis tasks including using standard tools to analyze and optimize code and systems for performance and resource utilization.
Implement and improve application security to keep new and current projects under the most current and secure technology available.
Research, understand and prototype new technologies that are required for the successful completion of the project.
Conduct application reviews and assessments for modernization opportunities.
Implement performance tuning in alignment with customer needs.
Work closely with customers to identify and analyze business practices and current solutions.
Recommend alternatives as well as identify future issues given use and data growth.

Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Programming OR equivalent experience to include at least four (4) years of experience developing applications.
Four (4) years of experience developing applications using C#.
Four (4) years of experience developing applications using ASP.NET.
Four (4) years of experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
Four (4) years of experience using JavaScript.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Skilled in developing ASP.NET MVC applications.
Skilled in creating reports using SQL Server.
Skilled in developing user interfaces with WPF and XAML.
Skilled in developing Blazor applications.

In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. This position is eligible for remote work up to 100%, per supervisor approval.
