JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accounts Payable Secretary performs secretarial/clerical duties that include accounts payable processing, various accounting related tasks, secretarial reception duties, and other secretarial/clerical duties assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
AA Degree in accounting or one-year recent experience and/or training in accounting.
High school diploma/equivalent.
Must present transcripts of highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire.
Experience in clerical/secretary related work and duties.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
Must pass a basic skills test.
Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.
Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
Familiar with Laserfiche connector, scanner profiles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated initiative and experience with performing secretarial tasks and understanding processes in a computerized accounting system environment.
Experience in the input and processing of accounting entries in a computerized accounting system environment.
Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy.
Able to assist in supporting a variety of accounting related tasks.
Experienced in reconciliation of accounting information.
Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be self-disciplined, and a self-starter.
Experience and expertise in operating office machines including computers, calculators and copiers. Evidence of strong computer skills, including computer applications: Windows, WORD, and Excel. Candidate may be required to pass a test in accounting and computer skills.
Capable of absolute confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS
Secretarial duties including reception customer service, answering phones, and filing a variety of reports and information in hardcopy and/or electronic format, preparing correspondence and form letters.
Integrated accounting system data entry, batch report processing, reconciliation of accounting information and verifying and posting accounts payable transactions.
Process and review various accounting system reports, reconciliation of accounting information.
Maintain necessary records for various accounting related projects.
Reconcile bank statements and school receipts.
Utilize excel to prepare accounting reconciliations and worksheets.
Compile and sort documents, such as invoices and purchase orders, packing slips, statements, etc., substantiating business transactions.
Verify and post details of accounts payable transactions.
Operate office machines including computers, calculators and copiers. Use computer applications, including financial and accounting software, Windows, Word and Excel.
Answer telephones in a courteous manner, interact with district staff and the public to resolve issues and address concerns.
Communicate with District staff and the public in a positive, effective, and professional manner.
Perform all duties within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
Perform other accounting, secretarial, and clerical tasks as assigned.
