Summary: Machinists are required to use milling machines, grinders, lathes, and other machine tools in order to produce precision metal parts. They review written blueprints and specifications, calculate where to bore or cut into the workpiece, determine speed, and plan the sequence of cutting. These professionals also detect problems by listening for specific noises or excessive vibrations.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ability to work to production schedule and due dates
Operating a variety of machines safely and efficiently
Ability to hold tight tolerances (+/- .002)
Familiar with Fanuc controls
Ability to read blueprints
Understand and calculate feeds and speeds
some overtime and good attendance
Skills-

Understanding of material types and grades
Large fab machining experience
Complicated setups
Horizontal Experience
Good math skills
Strong manual and CNC operating skills
Familiar with live tooling
Comprehensive understanding of CNC code
Ability to foster and work within a team environment
Actively participates in safety programs and complies with all Columbia safety policies
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time
Willingness to work extended hours to meet company needs
Maintains a clean and safe work area
Displays attention to detail and consistently follows Standard Work Instructions (when available) when completing tasks
Communicates well with peers, supervisors, customers, vendors and other departments


Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED
Vocational or technical training preferred
2-4 years of experience
