The Opportunity
WSDOT Information Technology Division (ITD) is currently seeking to fill two IT Support Technician 2 positions in Shoreline, WA. These positions are experienced paraprofessionals, who will serve Northwest Region and Mega Projects in support of IT assets. In this role, you will perform a variety of routine technical IT tasks related to the onboarding and offboarding of IT assets, including inventory and disposal. These positions ensure the agency can accomplish its mission of providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation options to improve communities and economic vitality for people and businesses by supporting the high-profile transportation infrastructure projects of the Northwest Region and Mega Projects.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the IT Support Technician 2 will:
Update records for asset onboarding, asset movement, and asset disposal. Assets include but are not limited to tablets, laptops, desktop PC, printers, handheld devices, iPads, servers, hubs, switches, bridges, routers, and software.
Perform the physical unpacking of hardware and the entry of assets into the Remedy Asset Management System.
Install operating systems and routine software on IT equipment.
Perform the sanitization of equipment prior to disposal.
Physically visit region locations to discover and verify assets in support of asset tracking and documentation.
Audit and modify asset records for the movement of equipment by Field Services technicians ensuring that they are completing all appropriate paperwork and associated documentation.
Manage and reconcile the biennial physical inventory of the IT related hardware for the NW Region and Mega Program offices.
Provide updates to IT management and assist with the final report for management review and signoff.
Complete assigned service tickets relating to routine tasks.
Diagnose application, hardware, and software issues.
Complete routine purchases using agency purchasing card, process and reconcile transactions.

Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Two (2) years of experience in information technology related activities such as testing, installing, maintaining, supporting, and/or averting hardware/software system failures on client applications, hardware and software products, mainframe systems, network infrastructure equipment, or telecommunications software or hardware; OR two (2) years of experience at the IT Support Technician 1 level; OR equivalent experience.
Transport various pieces of computer-related equipment that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
A valid driver’s license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle in Washington State.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft O365, and standard Adobe products.
Experience providing technical consulting and performing installation of IT hardware and software.
Experience effectively communicating and providing assistance to a diverse set of information technology peers.
COMPTIA A+ certification or similar certification.

Important Notes
This recruitment will be used to fill two full-time positions. One position is permanent, and one position is project. The project position is anticipated to last through 6/30/2023. This project position may be renewed for the next biennium depending on the budget approval.
This position offers flexible/hybrid remote work options.
Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 357-16-197 mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The salary listed for this position includes a legislative approved 5% premium for workers in King County.
In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code.
