Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill two Information Systems Technical Analyst II (ISTA II) positions on the Desktop Support Team.

The ISTA II typically maintains beyond entry level support of City technology systems and have a minimum of two years of practical experience. The position may have a college degree and/or technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), HDI Support Center Analyst, or other vendor certifications.

Desktop Support work is primarily done onsite. Tasks include building, configuring, deploying, and setting up computers; installing various software; troubleshooting technical issues on a variety of desktop technologies including printers, scanners, tablets, mobile phones, etc., conducting research, collecting & analyzing data, and performing miscellaneous duties and small projects as assigned.

The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive police background investigation in order to have their employment retained.

COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement
As of October 18, 2021, all City employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This is required for all positions at the City of Portland. Work Location
Many positions within the city are designated as hybrid and currently the city requires you to work in-person one day per week. Beginning in April 2023, most hybrid employees will be expected to perform at least half of their work in-person.

To Qualify
Applicants must specifically address and demonstrate in their resume and cover letter how their education, training and/or experience, meets each of the following minimum qualifications:
Knowledge of principles and practices of computer science and information systems, including personal computers and laptops
Working knowledge of at least one computer operating system; ability to install, configure, update and troubleshoot at least one current operating system
Working knowledge of customer service techniques as well as determine and understand customer’s issues and attempt to manage/defuse the situation
Ability to prepare technical documentation and training materials for assigned area
Ability to independently perform troubleshooting and analysis to find solutions to problems, and escalate complex problems following established processes
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and maintain effective working relationships
Applicants must also possess:
