The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a senior-level IT Infrastructure Solutions Architect for the Information Technology Division (ITD) in Tumwater, WA. This principal position provides reliable, modern, responsive, and cost-effective IT architectural solutions to WSDOT by designing modern and practical solutions, utilizing, and integrating multiple environments and technologies while maintaining federal, state, and agency regulatory compliance. The architect analyzes the requirements of the agency, researches solutions that align with WSDOT strategic goals, makes recommendations through IT governance, develops implementation and training plans, and archives documents for accessibility and repeatability.

What to Expect

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the IT Infrastructure Solutions Architect will:
Apply advanced strategic expertise and comprehensive technical business process knowledge in leading all aspects of Enterprise Server Support related system analysis, planning, design, and implementation.
Provide complex technological consultation to WSDOT business partners and ITD teams.
Lead and oversee complex transformational agency-wide projects with a focus on WSDOT technological modernization, resiliency, and security.
Represent WSDOT, JTD Infrastructure Services, and ESS and by communicating, presenting, and promoting agency information technology architectural framework to internal and external partners.
Write, review, and take ownership of clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation of WSDOT on-premises and cloud hosted current state and possible future state alternatives.
At the direction of ITD Infrastructure leadership, provide subject matter expert level support to augment high priority and/or risk incident management efforts and the resolution of enterprise-wide service interruptions.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum of six (6) years of progressive IT systems architectural experience. (Additional years of experience can substitute for education).
OR
Associate degree and eight (8) years of experience in IT systems administration and architecture.

OR
Ten (10) years of experience in IT systems administration and architecture.

In addition to one of the above, the following is also required:
Expert knowledge and minimum of five (5) years' experience designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud hosting environments.
Expert knowledge of enterprise level server, storage, and backup & recovery solutions to include physical hardware and cloud-based alternatives.
Advance knowledge of networking including the TCP/IP protocol and domain name services (DNS).
Advance knowledge and a minimum of five (5) years' experience with server security concepts including the authentication, authorization, and role-based security.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Higher level education in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field of study.
Advance knowledge and a minimum of three (3) years' experience working in a PCI environment and handling Category 3/4 data.
Working knowledge with Project Management Principles.
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
Working knowledge of the Washington State Department of Transportation.
