CHCW has an opening for a Psychiatric Medical Assistant Certified (MA-C) to join our Psychiatric team. The Psychiatric MA-C will assist the psychiatric staff by preparing patients for appointments, setting up for and assisting with procedures, preparing rooms, equipment and instruments for the next patient, administering immunizations, and performing clerical assignments within scope of licensure.

Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting psychiatric staff by preparing patients for their appointments following established protocols to include rooming patients in a warm and friendly manner, obtaining and recording vital signs and updating patient records, including meaningful use data, into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Administering medications/injections/treatments per provider’s orders within scope of licensure, monitoring prescriptions for controlled substances in the state database. Performing medication refills per protocol.
Setting up for, performing and/or assisting with tests/procedures within scope of licensure, including performing CLIA waived lab testing, cleaning and dressing wounds as instructed by provider, ordering imaging and labs as instructed by provider, and notifying patient of results as requested by provider. Assisting with transfers, transports, and ambulation of patients.
Managing Psychiatric schedule, recall list, and inbox as needed and communicating health needs to care team members for comprehensive care coordination and treatment planning at the direction of the provider.
Performing clerical tasks, including assisting patients with completion of forms.
Providing patient education, as instructed by provider or RN.
Maintaining and recording vaccine refrigerator and freezer temperature log. May order clinic supplies and medications, as needed.
Maintaining licensure and required continuing education and completing on-line education modules, as required.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant course required
Washington State Medical Assistant Certified or Interim License or enrollment in CHCW Medical Apprenticeship Program required
One year of Psych experience and/or training is preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
