JOB OPPORTUNITY – SCADA System Specialist, SCADA Technician

The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is looking for a (2) two SCADA professional to fill our SCADA System Specialist opening in the Maintenance & Operations Department.

SCADA System Specialist:
The successful candidate will be responsible for engineer, develop, integrate, and maintain the District’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and Operational Technology (OT) hardware and software. Will also provide focus efforts of system analysis, development, cyber security, and assist in the continuous improvement of SCADA system and OT technologies.

This position requires any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be two years of progressively responsible experience in system integration, maintaining DCS or SCADA systems, PLC programming, OT administration, instrumentation and Process Control technology and two years of higher education in Computer Science, Engineering, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation or a relatable program. A valid Washington State Driver’s License is required. Electrical certification at least at the level of an (06) Limited Energy Systems or higher is desirable. Ability to earn advanced certification in networking or security, such as Cisco entry CCT or Associate CCNA or CompTIA, within two years of appointment is required.

SCADA Technician:
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on the District SCADA system, telemetry & communication equipment, instrumentation, programmable logic controller (PLC), and our process control systems.

This position requires any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be two years of progressively responsible experience in SCADA system maintenance, PLC’s, instrumentation, and or two years of higher education in instrumentation, industrial automation and controls, engineering, or relatable field. A valid Washington State Driver’s License is required. Electrical certification at least at the level of an (06) Limited Energy Systems or higher is desirable.

This position is represented by WCCCE, Local No. 1811A, AFSCME, AFL-CIO. A valid Washington State Driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required for all classification levels. The District also routes sewage from multiple jurisdictions to King County’s Brightwater sewage treatment plant. The Maintenance & Operations Department is hiring (2) new full-time team members to work on projects that include: (1) SCADA System Specialist and (1) SCADA Technician.

Annual Salary:
SCADA System Specialist - The pay range for this position is $39.70 - $53.22 per hour (with starting pay of $39.70 - $45.98), dependent upon experience and qualifications.

SCDA Technician - The pay range for this position is Pay Grade 15: $37.10 - $49.74 per hour (with starting pay of $37.10 - $42.97), dependent upon experience and qualifications. After successful completion of probation, the selected candidate has the ability to work toward an internal promotion to Senior SCADA Technician which is a Pay Grade 16.
