Glass Welding / Glassblower Training Program

Have you been looking to learn a new skillset? Join our team and we will help you to grow your career! You will be taught how to weld quartz glass for semi-conductors.

BEFORE YOU APPLY, please note that this is not an artistic training program. Instead, it’s learning to manipulate (weld) quartz glass for the semi-conductor industry using precise control methods. This is called scientific glass blowing and it is a very precise and controlled art-though not artistic.

About Us: Tosoh Quartz, Inc., we are a manufacturer of quartz glassware for the semi-conductor industry. This involves taking silicon wafers through the process of becoming computer chips. We produce & ship our products all over the world!

Your success in this training program is really up to you.

The duration of the training is dependent on the individual's progress. In training, you will work alongside (4-5) trainees at the most although, you will also have a lot of one-on-one attention from the Glassblower trainer. We will teach you how to work with quartz glass and to check & inspect your work. Typically, at 90 days, you will have an official review to discuss next steps.

If you have experience in any of the following, you would be a great fit for our team as this position relies heavily on excellent hand-eye-coordination:

-Welders (we too use hand torches for glassblowing)

What to expect:

- You’ll be in training at our Portland branch (training hours: Monday-Thursday ---6:00 am to 4:30 PM (w/ 30-minute lunch break) which means you will earn 40 hours of work time and also have a three day weekend (Fri./Sat./Sun.)

-You will start by learning to make glass tubes and nozzles out of quartz glass using high-heat (must be comfortable around warmer work environments)

-Perform routine glass-working tasks in the shaping, forming, and uniting of standard glass materials in the fabrication of simple quartz glass products

-Observing and checking parts for noticeable stress

-To read and interpret a variety of technical drawings, blueprints, etc.

Requirements:

-High School degree or GED certification

-Excellent attendance/ strong communication

-Well organized with good attention to detail with the ability to maintain high

levels of accuracy

-Diligent attitude with the determination to see things through to completion

-Capable of working as part of a team and able to use own initiative when working individually

-Aptitude to meet challenges that may arise

-Ability to pass a background and drug screening
