GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for independently performing semiskilled preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep and operation of various types of equipment when the facility is in operation. Will ensure the infrastructure is always safe and functional. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for maintaining, repairing, or replacing electrical equipment when they malfunction or break. The Maintenance Mechanic will work jointly with the Maintenance Manager by keep them informed on issues related to the job function and coming up with resolutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Positive, team-oriented attitude
• Assist Maintenance Manager with special projects
• Machine maintenance processes including electrical, and mechanical installations, as well as repairs and preventative maintenance
• Maintain plant safety, housekeeping standards, and quality checks within the manufacturing environment
• Follow lock out/Tag out practices and policy’s
• Keep the shop and all major maintenance areas neat and safe
• Work closely with production
• Other duties as assigned

WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Shop Experience (welding mig/tig sanitary, fabrication layout and design)
• Strong general mechanical skills
• Knowledge of the entire process and flow of plant operations
• Knowledge of processing equipment; pumps, seals, gear boxes, chains, bearings, conveyors, augers etc.
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair
• Knowledge of boilers and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair
• Knowledge of water softeners, testing practices and their operation
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and wire diagrams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure proper communication with the plant and management personnel.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School diploma or equivalent
• One year of journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of processing equipment or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
• Some Experience with pumps, treat tanks, and electric troubleshooting.
