The Department of Social and Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Administrative Assistant 2 to join our team at Yakima Valley School.

With minimal supervision providing administrative and staff support services to the Support Services at Yakima Valley School under the direction of the Developmental Disabilities Administrator, you will enjoy full State of Washington employee benefits, and a chance to further our mission of Transforming Lives!


Some of what you’ll do:

Prepare coherent and meaningful reports
Organize confidential data related to residents and/or staff
Independently perform assignments requiring substantial knowledge of a variety of regulations, rules, and policies
Work with others in developing programs and plans
Provide clerical support for the support services department
Provide executive-level assistance by evaluating and prioritizing assignments
Manage data for large projects
Responsible for compiling and gathering department(s) information for YVS Newsletter


What we’re looking for:

Good attendance - Specialized Services depend on this position
Ability to work reliably with confidential information
Ability to prioritize work and schedule to accomplish various duties timely and efficiently
Ability to adapt quickly to program needs or unexpected assignments
Advanced computer skills including merging/sorting/using graphics, creating flyers and notices, and forms
Ability to effectively direct the work of others
Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing


Who should apply?

One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1

OR

A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field*, and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher


*Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
