Switchgear Electrical Panel Designer for diesel and hydro generation controls manufacturer. We design and build custom electrical controls for low voltage and medium voltage standby and prime power generation as well as other electrical projects. Duties include PLC programming, generator switchboard/switchgear controls, design, small control panels, and system startup on site. Responsible for project design and system testing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 The Switchgear Electrical Panel Designer is responsible for designing the system and resolving any ambiguity or conflict between the customers’ drawings and specification.
 The Switchgear Electrical Panel Designer reviews drawings for accuracy and certifies the drawings as meeting the provided design and specifications.
 The Switchgear Electrical Panel Designer selects components and develops a bill of material for the project. Where necessary, specific vendors will be given a copy of the plans and project specification to ensure that their equipment and capability is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
 The Switchgear Electrical Panel Designer reviews the technical submittal data and certifies its accuracy. Upon certification, the technical writer produces the final submittal documents in the format requested by the customer.
 Once the submittal is approved and returned by the customer, the Switchgear Electrical Panel Designer then submits the bill of material to the purchasing department to stage the order and delivery of materials.
 Travel to offsite job sites for start-up and commissioning of the Switchgear
 Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are followed.
 Ability to achieve required timelines and deliverables.
 Demonstrated ability to set priorities and strong attention to detail.


Qualifications for the Job:
 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical field is desired
 PLC Programming Experience is required
 Diesel and/or Hydro power generation experience a plus
 Moderate comprehension of contracts and terms and conditions statements
 Ability to understand technical documentation, such as a single-line diagram or equipment specification
 Ability to understand terms and conditions documents
 Poses and maintains a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
 Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
 Proven ability to solve complex problems in support of business strategy
