CHCW is looking for a Financial Counselor to work with our self-pay patients to explain payment plans and help patients apply for discounted services in our medical and dental practices. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in a medical and/or dental office checking patients in and asking for payments. Must have great communication and customer service skills in addition to excellent math skills and a high level of proficiency with MS Word and Excel. Bilingual E/S required.

Job duties include:
Processes all sliding fee applications for patients.
Meets with self-pay patients as needed to discuss patient balances.
Sets patients up on payment plans per the practice’s policies and procedures.
Reviews aged accounts receivable balances for self-pay patients and perform pre-collection activities.
Works refund accounts to refund money to patients as needed or re-apply it to vouchers with balances.
Performs patient discharge activities per company policies for financial reasons.
Works bad address accounts.
Monitors sliding fee scale patient eligibility; contact patients when the SFS is due to expire.
Works closely with collection agency on the unpaid self-pay balances that are assigned to them.
Answers patient questions about statements; either in person or over the phone.
Explains financial responsibilities for services received, payment options and collection procedures to patients or parties responsible for payment.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
2 years related experience, including patient collection and medical billing and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bilingual E/S required
Ability to work in Yakima with travel to Ellensburg
Opportunity to work in a Hybrid work Environment after training
Community Health Center and/or FQHC experience desirable but not required
Current driver’s license and auto insurance
