Apprentice Lineworker -Richland, WA

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Maintenance & Operations Supervisor or designee, performs construction, maintenance, and repair of the City’s electrical utility distribution and transmission systems in a trainee role. Subject to 24-hour callout for emergency situations.


The expected regular work schedule will be 4 - 10 hour shifts per work week.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of an electrical lineworker training program or documentation of current participation in an accredited lineworker apprenticeship program.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver's license with Class "A" CDL upon hire date.
First Aid Card, CPR Certification and Flagging Card within three (3) months of hire date.

Desirable Qualifications
Successful completion of an electrical lineworker training program (such as Camp Rilea or other equivalent program) or accredited lineworker apprenticeship program.
Current and valid First Aid Card, CPR Certification and Flagging Card.
Experience using computer technologies and software programs in a Windows based computing environment with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word and Excel.
Experience using GIS mapping programs such as AutoCad and/or Esri.
Experience working directly with the public in a customer service role.
Supplemental Information
Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing (if applicable), and an oral board interview. Final candidate selected will be required to pass a comprehensive background, reference and criminal history history check, and pre-employment physical commensurate to the position to include DOT drug test.
