Instrumentation PLC Technician 1

Summary
The Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining all process instrumentation and controls throughout the facility to ensure safe operating practices. This individual wires, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and maintains equipment to minimize downtime. The Instrument Technician frequently collaborates with engineers and electricians to complete work assignments accurately.

Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoots, removes, repairs and reinstalls various types of control loops, controllers, transmitters, automated valves and switches
Troubleshoots and repairs instrumentation controlled by programmable logic controllers (PLC) and HMIs
Effectively utilize test equipment, such as multi-meters, temperature and pressure calibrators and signal generators
Generates and maintains documentation associated with control systems such as ladder logic, Operating Procedures and wiring diagrams
Reads and interprets drawing and wiring schematics
Assists the Electrical Technicians as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Typical Education
2 year technical or trade school with AAS or certificate of completion or High School Diploma or GED with 5 year experience with PLC/HMI Maintenance/Repair
Relevant Experience
Two years of plant maintenance experience
Ability to balance multiple tasks, be flexible and work well under pressure
Solid background in PLC programming, troubleshooting and control panel systems design
Knowledge of food Safety and GMP to protect from food contamination
Must be familiar with automated control systems and be able to read, understand and maintain electrical drawings and manuals
Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix and Factory Talk View is preferred
An understanding of Ethernet networks, IP addressing, wiring and cable patching
Understanding of DC and AC drive systems experience with Power Flex drives is preferred
Electrical experience desired
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to read and write in English
Ability to work any shift, weekend and overtime if required
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment
