Job Description:
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all equipment located within the processing area of the facility and for performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by supervisory personnel, while working under limited supervision.

Job Description
- Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs. Assures that safe work practices are followed in all work groups. Abides by all company work, safety, and hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Performs routine and/or non-routine checks and preventive maintenance tasks established by the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Team Leader Maintenance, Team Leader Area Production, Team Leader Quality, Team Leader Production and the Maintenance Lead.
- May be required to perform emergency repairs with minimal supervision.
- Keeps documentation up to date.
- Familiar with proper start-up and shut down of processing equipment
- Performs equipment repair, overhaul, and trouble shooting of equipment; changes and replaces belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, etc.
- Evaluates equipment for performance, performs adjustments, replaces parts, etc. as needed to assure uninterrupted processing of quality potato products.
- Performs structurally-sound welds and acceptable cutting, using appropriate cutting and welding equipment.
- May be required to work any shift, any and all days of the week, or overtime in the accordance with production and maintenance schedules.
- Reads, writes, and communicates in English by using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions and technical manuals.
- Maintains a neat, orderly work area.
- Follows instructions given in work logs, work orders, and equipment manuals.
- Supports and promotes CPS programs such as 5S and Center lining throughout the plant.
- Supports and actively participates in VeloCity driven activities surrounding maintenance activities.
- Must be able to operate a forklift and man lift in a safe manner. Requires plant certification.
- Give direction and training to lower bracketed mechanics as needed.
- Communicates and works with other associates and salaried personnel in a positive manner.

Physical Demands
The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee:
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy items.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds six feet above the ground.
- Lifts in excess of 50 pounds, must be accompanied by a Team Lift to perform task safely
- Must be able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders and crawl in tight and akward work places for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions for long durations.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the functions of this job. The employee:
- Will work in all areas of the plant, both inside and outside during any and all weather conditions.
- Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts, around electrical equipment and open circuits.
- May work on wet, muddy, icy, or greasy floors.
- Is frequently exposed to extreme cold surroundings.
- Is exposed to humid conditions as well as hot and cold environments ranging from 0° to 130° F
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
- Will regularly work in an environment in which the noise level is usually high.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
To be considered for a Processing Maintenance I position a person should have the following qualifications:
- Must have good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to complete work assignments in a safe manner with limited supervision
- Must be able to identify/troubleshoot issues utilizing all available resources (manuals, SME’s, operator observations) to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Set up and weld mild steel and stainless steel in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions with Arc, MIG, and TIG welders.
- Properly use all basic hand tools, power hand tools, and shop tools (not to include machine tools).
- Perform basic plumbing runs and repairs.
- Be knowledgeable of basic mechanical nomenclature.
- Perform basic sheet metal layout and fabrication.
- Have the ability and willingness to follow instructions.
- Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being done.
- Has completed, or has the ability to complete a forklift training program.

Education and/ or Experience
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Language Skills
- Must read, write and communicate effectively in English.
