Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and Master of Arts in Medical Science enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. Under the direction of the Dean, the Administrative Coordinator is expected to provide a full range of clerical and technical support to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of correspondence and materials, to support and assist the development and implementation of the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree including preparation of accreditation documents and related activities, pre- clinical and clinical education program, interprofessional education activities, administrative support for community-based clinical education, serving all full-time and part-time faculty, current students enrolled in the DMD program, prospective applicants to the SDM program, client/volunteers attending classes on campus, administrators, alumni, healthcare providers, health care institutions, community organizations and the general public. The coordinator may be asked to cover responsibilities in additional units as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Interprets and applies policies and procedures; composes correspondence and standard reports, processes purchase orders and travel related paperwork; maintains and updates all policy and procedure manuals within the program; maintains accurate and accessible records of program equipment inventory
Serves as SDM’s webmaster to ensure accurate information at all times for the public and compliance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
Reconciles supply invoices to appropriate budgets and assists and track all travel and financial forms (travel pre-approvals, reimbursements, check requests, etc.)
Assists in faculty searches and new faculty orientation
Assists in the planning, organizing, and implementing program events including Student Orientation, Graduation, Legislative Day, Research Symposium, and Faculty Retreat
Works with staff throughout the University to assist in scheduling of classes, admissions, recruitment, financial aid, and student services
Ensure proper and timely calibration of all equipment within the program for safety
Assists the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs in corresponding to partner clinic sites and ensuring clinic contracts follow CODA standards
Responds to student and applicant requests for program information and ensures all information is current and accurate in consultation with Enrollment Services
Maintains comprehensive databases/survey results from Office of Institutional Effectiveness or SDM Outcomes Committee on program outcomes, admissions data, alumni, and clients
Initiates communication with other offices and programs at PNWU on behalf of the Dean, faculty, and students
Develops and/or refines systems and processes to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness within and across units
Serves as the primary contact for day-to-day operational and administrative issues with University constituencies and the public
Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
Required: Two years of recent general office clerical skills that includes knowledge in standard office procedures and practices (a combination of closely related work experience and post-secondary education may be substituted)
Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentation, Project Management tracking and reporting)
Preferred: Experience working in higher education
Preferred: Prior experience working with academic accrediting organization
