Job Description:
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Fiscal Analyst 1 – Payroll at the Southwest Region Business Office in Lacey, Washington. This is a full-time, permanent position.

As a member of the DOC Business Services Payroll Team, and under the direction of the Agency Payroll Officer, this position supports the Department's goals and objectives by developing systems and processes that ensure that every paycheck created will be treated as if it were their own and that the fiscal responsibilities the State of Washington are met with the highest level of integrity.

Payroll and benefits processing
- Payroll processing and operations duties
- Set up new hires, process rehires, transfers, separations, shift differential and all other actions within HRMS and/or PAY1
- Establish, maintain, and monitor employee benefits incompliance with RCW, WAC, and CBA policies
- Process special pay for K9 handlers, Dual Language employees, Defensive Tactics trainers, etc.
- Investigate and correct any HRMS redline and financial errors (ALAS or RPCIPE)
- Complete daily filing using established payroll procedures

Review and research
- Establish, monitor, and maintain hardcopy file folders for all employees
- Review HRMS input and output
- Audit and assist in overpayment research

Audit leave
- Work with institutional payroll to monitor, reconcile and adjust leave balance
- Deliver pertinent information to the appropriate FA2 regarding active military, extended leave without pay (LWOP) and FMLA for processing

Other duties as assigned
- Share in the responsibility to answer office mainline phone and mail processing duties on a monthly rotation

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:
One (1) year of relevant experience. Relevant experience is defined as Fiscal Technician 2 or above level work
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent, with minimum 20 accounting credits to include Accounting 201, 202, 203 and Governmental Accounting.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment:
The completion of Accounting 201 is required from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent within six (6) months from date of hire
